[Keith D. Williams] also spearheaded a number of initiatives including creating Wayne County's Senior Chore Program, which provides free minor repairs and yard work to eligible seniors who own their homes. He pushed setting up the County's One-Stop Business Center, which provides business development guidance and assistance to new and experienced business owners.
In the upcoming legislative session, Williams will serve as vice chair of the commission's Committee on Ways and Means, and as a member of the Committee on Economic Development. Williams plans to host several track meets in which youth compete for scholarships and other awards. He will also focus on mentoring programs that primarily serve young men.While the Commission's 2009-2010 legislative sessions is the first time in several decades that a suburban commissioner (Edward Boike, D-Taylor) will serve as chair, Williams said Detroit would be a priority, even as the commission focuses on cooperation between the city and suburbs.See the full content of this document
