Sure it's hard to imagine ourselves at play. We're living in a world with more war than peace. We're living through tough economic times doing our best just to get by. And we're living in a city with more than its share of residents with chronic illnesses. But we are living - and for our own health and well-being, it's time lo find things to laugh about.
The phrase "laughter is good medicine" may have its origin in Proverbs 17:22: "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Over the years, a number of health professionals have examined how laughter triggers a physical process that can release emotional pain. Many people with life-threatening illness find that laughter enables them to release fear and embrace possibilities. Releasing their fears allows them to bond with others more fully.
