Scholarship Lessens Burden for Those Weighed Down with College Tuition

Summary


Named in honor of Harvey C. Jackson, Jr., Highland Park's first African American school professional to serve as a liaison between the African American community and the Highland Park School Board, the award has been helping youth achieve their dream of going to college for 24 years. Over $294,000 has been awarded to students with good academic and leadership capabilities.

In addition to receiving the award, Williams was also the recipient of the Rankin Highland Park Scholarship and Spring Arbor University Scholarship.

Brandon L. Williams, of Highland Park, is also getting a jump start on college tuition, as the recipient of a $3,000 Harvey C. Jackson Memorial Scholarship as well as a $1,000 Edward and Alma Greer Scholarship.
