New Orleans-Based Zulu Connection to Perform at Wayne County Community College District's Passport to Africa Event

Summary


Passport to Africa, now in its sixth year, will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. February 9, 2008. More than 3,000 Metro Detroiters will gather at the Wayne County Community College District's (WCCCD) Downtown Campus located at 1001 W. Fort Street in Detroit. The event will begin with a drumbeat calling everyone, from the east to the west and from north to south people, in the Diaspora and everyone who is eager to learn about the contributions of the African continent to come together to celebrate and learn. The daylong community-based educational event is jointly supported by WCCCD's Continuing Education Division, the Detroit Public Schools, United African Community Organizations of Michigan (UACO), and the Alkebu-Lan Village, an African centered organization that embraces the cultural and traditional values of Africa.
