Summary
I recently had the honor of serving as mistress of ceremonies (with student Kevin Irwin III serving as master of ceremonies) for the Detroit School of the Arts' (DSA) Super Gala. The event featured the school's internationally acclaimed Wind Symphony, the Concert Choir, a presentation by student Erika Dais, and a performance by R&B legend Jerry Butler.
The students' performances rivaled that of any professional wind symphony or choir. As I sat in their new and acoustically superior auditorium, I was literally blown away, no pun intended. This is DPS, I thought? Yes, indeed. So, that night I relished in the student performances and an evening wrapped up quite nicely with Jerry "The Iceman" Buffer's concert. The bigger return of the evening was the students, and their pleasant and professional attitudes, courteous demeanor and thoughtfulness in making sure that all guests were comfortable.See the full content of this document
