Keeper of the Word Foundation

Summary

The exhibit was inspired by the NAACP Image Award Winning book, "Dear Mrs. Parks, a Dialogue with Today's Youth" authored by Rosa Parks with Gregory J. Reed, Parks' personal attorney for 15 years. Reed is the guest curator of the first historical exhibit linking the American and African continents, as well as, the first collaborative exhibition between MSU Museum and the Nelson Mandela Museum.

Reed was selected as the U.S. delegate along with two designated personal hosts to escort [NELSON MANDELA] and Graca Machel, his wife, to view the exhibit. Reed read Parks' Message to the World* to Mr. Mandela, who reflected on the message and said, "This is good for our children and adults." Mrs. Graca Machel, Mandela's wife, stated, "I can see why (Parks and Mandela) are united and how their legacies overlapped and the historic parallel between the two continents, America and Africa, in the exhibit presentation."

Reed is the guest curator of the first historical exhibit linking the American and African continents, as well as, the first collaborative exhibition between MSU Museum and the Nelson Mandela Museum.
