Summary


As segregation still existed, Black entertainers performed in and frequented the businesses in the Valley. Mr. Fort was known as one of the best barbers around and was barber to such luminaries, such as as Nat "King" Cole, Billy Eckstine and Count Basie. It was in The Valley that he met the love of his life, Helen Marie. They were married in 1946 and were the parents of seven children. She preceded him in death.
