From Berlin to Denver

Summary


Obviously there is some great admiration coupled with jealousy from [Barack Obama]'s detractors and those who feel threatened by his candidacy. So they are bent on doing anything to derail his campaign and failing to assess the candidate from an objective angle. The interest the world has generated in this election lends itself largely to Obama's candidacy and its attempt to redefine national politics.

At the 2008 Unity Convention, a gathering of journalists of color in Chicago last week, I mentioned as a panel speaker that Obama's candidacy is pressing upon us a psychological shift in terms of how we see each other in a global 'village. That was part of the attraction that gave him a huge reception in Germany. After all, Ainerica has an opportunity to expand its perceived identity with an Obama candidacy with- the world closely watching.

Like a rock star, Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama addressed a 200,000 crowd in Berlin, Germany, last week as part of his international tour.
