"This is one of the Volunteer Council's fundraising initiatives," [Anne Parsons] said with a smile. "They work very hard all year long to raise money and support the DSO's activities. This is the holiday kick-off. They'll do some shopping downstairs, and all of it benefits the DSO."

"They're exposed to contemporary music by radio and CD's," [Eva Meharry] said. "We feel that every child should have the opportunity to be exposed to this and let them make up their own minds, if not immediately then 10 or 15 years from now. They'll say, 'that was a neat experience, (and) I'm going to take my kids to the classical concert.'
