Detroit Water and Sewerage Department Urges Customers to Pay Delinquent Bills

Summary


The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) will once again transfer delinquent residential, commercial and industrial water and sewer accounts to the City Property tax rolls for collection, a widespread practice also used by approximately 34 suburban communities served by the department. Detroit property owners have 14 days to pay the full amount of any past due water and sewer bills after being contacted by DWSD about the delinquency. If the property owner fails to pay the amount owed to DWSD within. 14 days of being contacted, the delinquency can and will be transferred to the property tax rolls as a lien for collection purposes. Service to that address may also be terminated.
