Summary
I recognize that Detroit cannot survive in isolation, but I also know Michigan's recovery will not succeed without us. A healthy Detroit benefits more than just our city. It supports growth in the region and bolsters confidence in our state. At a time when financial resources are increasingly scarce, it's imperative that we work together. Indeed, the scope of the challenge before us demands it. That is why my administration has worked tirelessly to restore trust in our city by reaching out to businesses and philanthropic organizations, local and regional leaders and our state and federal government.
While there are no quick fixes, shortcuts or magic wands, I do believe the groundwork is being laid to realize a better collective future.
