Summary
At Boulevard Temple, where Rev. [Lawrence T. Foster] served as chaplain from 1994-2002 and then as Executive Director, he now works with other neighborhood leaders "to share resources and our collective vision for reinforcing and strengthening this part of Detroit." In that role, he represents the landmark Boulevard Temple (located at Rosa Parks and West Grand Boulevards), part of United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC). "I show neighbors, civic groups and city officials how we are all connected and can support each other to achieve common goals, which is a message I also share with my congregation," explains Rev. Foster.
Since 1963, the eight-story Boulevard Temple has served Detroiters with rehabilitation services and nursing care in a spiritual environment. "We recognize our important place in Detroit history and our responsibilities as part of the Virginia Park neighborhood," says Alberta Dossie, Executive Director of Boulevard Temple. "We're fortunate to have someone of Reverend Foster's stature to lead community outreach and uphold our mission of public service.""My new position at Boulevard Temple is a wonderful fit with my other civic activities," he says. "This is a lively area with terrific potential, and the Temple sits at a gateway intersection. I'm energized to be part of a nonprofit organization that's joining other partners to shape the community's revitalization."See the full content of this document
