Black Buying Power

Summary


The city of Detroit can become, in my eyes, the next "Black Wall Street of America." Detroiters must find there way back - when Black folks owned hospitals, hotels, gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants and supplied the wants and needs of the African American community. Giving tribute to the effects of the Freedman's Report - Lincolns Jubilee 1915, Black Bottom/Paradise Valley 1940s, and the SCLC Detroit Black Expo in the 1970s post civil rights era. If Black folks were smart enough to found the first Black Expo in 1895 entitled the Atlanta Exposition shortly after slavery was abolished, then why are we 102 years later not celebrating, supporting and developing Black-owned businesses?
