I am writing to issue a formal challenge to you to disclose your personal finances, When I first issued this challenge in October, you maintained that you would not complete a financial disclosure for review by the public. Yet, in an October 28 letter to the Detroit Free Press, you wrote,"As mayor of Detroit, I am committed to upholding the highest ethical standards - particularly after our city's recent, unfortunate experience." I agree that the need for transparency and accountability in the Mayor's office has-never been more important than it is today but I believe our words need to be followed by action that shows it is a "new day" in Detroit.
