"Being the first option to shoot and score has been ingrained in my game," said Hamilton, a former No. 1 draft pick (seventh overall in 1999) who came to the Pistons in a trade with the Washington Wizards for Jerry Stackhouse. "Coach ([Larry Brown]) wants me to still score, but at the same time, move the ball around to make the defense work more."

Concurred [Billups], a former No. 1 draft pick (third overall in 1997 by the Boston Celtics) who signed with the Pistons via free agency: "Larry and I have a great relationship. We both had to sacrifice things. Sure he (Brown) demands things of me, but it's only to make me better at creating opportunities for others on the team, as well as for myself."

"Rip and I are a perfect marriage," Billups said. "I'm poised and I steady him. He's in constant motion and he energizes me when I need a lift."
